Current Admissions Policy
The capacity of Malmesbury C of E Primary School is 420 and the Planned Admission Number (PAN) is 60.
The Governors of Malmesbury C of E Primary School have determined that the Academy will adhere to Wiltshire Council’s Schools Admissions Policy for the academic year 2023-24.
Admission to EYFS (Reception)
Wiltshire Council controls all admissions to our school. The closing date for all applications for children wishing to start in September 2024 is 15th January 2024 at noon. Notification of whether your child has a place at our school will be available to you in April 2024. For late applications (ie. after 15th January) notifications will be posted out in June 2024.
The deadline for applications for September 2025 entry will be 15th January 2025, and for September 2026 entry the deadline will be 15th January 2026.
Our staff make positive links with local pre-school groups and nurseries and arrange exchange visits where possible. An information booklet for all Reception children who start school with us in September is available by clicking on the button below.
Children must attend school full time in the term after their 5th birthday. However, most children attend school from the autumn term after their 4th birthday.
The term ‘in-year applications’ refers to all applications for places except those joining at the start of Reception year. If you are moving from another part of the country, or just want your child to change schools, this means you. The only exception would be if your child has been issued with an EHC plan for their special educational needs, in which case your Local Authority should work directly with Wiltshire Authority over your child’s school place.
Parents should apply using the in-year application form provided by the Local Authority (follow this link) and can either apply online or by paper.
Transfer to Secondary School
Transfer to Malmesbury School is made at the age of 11 years.
Strong links have been established between our school and the secondary school to ensure a smooth transition. Induction visits are arranged during Year 6, and staff from both schools maintain contact through many different links.
Admissions Policies are formally agreed and set by the Governing Body by 28 February in the determination year (the year in advance of the one in which the arrangements are to apply). The school consulted upon its admissions arrangements for the 2022/23 Admissions Policy and will consult again no later than December 2027 for the 2029/30 Admissions Policy. Following determination of arrangements, any objections to the continuation of arrangements must be made to the Schools Adjudicator no later than 15 May in the determination year.
