Summer is nearly here and there are plenty of exciting events coming up as you can see in the newsletter.
This coming Friday, 8th June, there is the Father’s Day Gift Shop, where the children can choose presents for £1, £2 and £3 each. This is an opportunity for the children to bring in some money and pick a gift completely independently. If you would like your child to take part please send them in with some money on Friday (for early years it may be best to hand this to a teacher in a named envelope).
The Summer Fete Poster Competition also closes on Friday morning. There will be prizes for the best posters in Reception /Year 1, Year 2/3 and Years 4 to 6.
The posters should include the date and time of the fete – Friday 6th July 6.00pm-8.00pm, this year’s theme, which is ‘Around the World’ and say: ‘Come to Malmesbury Primary School’s Summer Fete’. Children may also like to include some of the stalls which there will be. These include Barbecue, Cake Stall, Bouncy Castle, Sweet Stall, Bar. Please return poster entrants by Friday morning to your child’s teacher, clearly labelled with your child’s name, class and year group.
Thank you for all your continued support.

The Universally Challenged School Quiz is one for the grown ups! Usually in early March, it is always a highly entertaining evening and a chance to see our male members of teaching staff at their comedy best. The competitive spirit among the teams is intense, fuelled by a well stocked bar (empty by the end of the evening) and a light supper.
At the end of every other term the Dizzy Feet Disco is a hugely popular event with the children. There are separate discos on the same evening for Infants and Juniors with drinks and snacks to keep energy levels up, tattoos and pocket money toys.
The Summer Fete is our biggest fundraiser of the year. It is teamwork at its best with teachers, children, parents, carers, and even local clubs and businesses all getting involved to pull together a great evening of activities, arena displays, raffle prizes, food and drink. The event is usually on the first Friday of July.
The Secrets Rooms for Mother’s and Father’s Day, and Christmas are a great opportunity for the children to independently choose and buy small gifts for their loved ones on these special occasions.
Where the money goes
£5,000 towards to the development of the Foundation Stage playground.
Key Stage 1 enjoyed a circus skills workshop linked to their IPC theme.
An Alice in Wonderland theatre production for the whole school to support book week.
Each year group is allocated a pot of Friends money every academic year which they can spend on a treat or additional activity to support their IPC topics. The children have enjoyed some great experiences such as the Wild Man with his mini beasts and pond dipping activities, a Native American show with traditional songs, dances and stories, a poetry workshop, an Adventure School, a Paint a Plate Workshop and Spy School.
Last year we also funded and collated a leavers book for year 6 pupils as a special souvenir of their time at Malmesbury Primary.
We also purchased additional games for each KS2 class to use during wet play based on the children’s own choices; The lunchtime Games Club were able to buy more board games and lots of Lego; The KS2 playground now has additional basket ball hoops, skipping ropes and other fun equipment.
