Governors
Governing bodies are responsible for working with the school to ensure that it delivers a good quality education. Together with the Headteacher, who is responsible for day-to-day management, the governors set the school's aims and policies.
Key roles of governors: ensure clarity of vision/ethos/strategic direction; ensure accountability for educational performance and staff performance management; oversee financial performance and value for money; ensure stakeholder voices are heard; support/challenge as "critical friend".
Other duties: determining budget spend; appointing/dismissing staff; hearing appeals and grievances; setting the policies on curriculum and collective worship; setting pupil behaviour/discipline standards; ensuring buildings are welcoming and safe; setting/monitoring aims and other policies.
For further information about the work of the governing body and its committees please see our Scheme of Delegation 2026-27.
You can contact our Chair of Governors, Laurence Mussett, by email at [email protected].
How do I become a governor?
The numbers and types of governors are determined by our articles of association. As vacancies arise they are advertised, but you can also register your interest or find out more about the role by contacting the Clerk to the Governors. The address is: [email protected]
